What is the difference between cheap MTB front forks and higher-end front forks?

Cheap MTB front forks often feature a (coil) spring in the fork. Forks in higher price ranges are usually air-sprung. Air-sprung MTB front forks are lighter, travel more smoothly and progressively and can be better adjusted to the rider's weight.

Will my rotors fit my MTB front fork?

Rotors come in two versions: centerlock and 6-bolt, and are available for mountain bikes in 160mm, 180mm and 203mm. In most cases, an adapter under the caliper is needed to fit a larger rotor. Check those out here.

Are the front forks suitable for e-bikes?

On electric mountain-bikes, MTB front forks with a travel of between 140mm - 160mm are most common. The Rockshox ZEB, Lyrik and Pike suspension forks are also suitable for e-MTB.

How should I maintain my MTB front fork?

A traditional service includes changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the seal. Servicing is recommended by Rockshox after 50 hours of use. A full service involves changing the oil, cleaning the lower fork legs, testing the damper to assess its performance. The wiper seals, foam rings, bushings and bridge are inspected for wear. This is recommended by Rockshox every 100-125 hours.

What MTB front fork do I need for what MTB discipline?

For trail / enduro, a travel distance between 160 - 180 mm is used to cope well with drops and steep descents. Here, the focus is on being able to ride downhill as fast as possible. An MTB front fork for an XC, or cross country, on the other hand, is built primarily for speed and low weight. To take both climbs and descents as fast as possible. It usually has a travel between 100 - 120 mm.
