Description
Optimal power transfer and feeling of control
These pedals have a widened pedal surface and the pedal body is lowered. Due to the larger surface, your pedalling efficiency is greatly improved and you will be cycling both harder and with more control. The lowered pedal body ensures that no power is lost in the gap when pedalling. It also achieves the optimum balance between low weight and maximum power transfer. In addition, the spring tension is adjustable, so you can adjust how easily you click in and out.
Double bearings
This pedal rotates around a stainless steel shaft with double bearings in each pedal. This makes the pedal more resistant to weather, sand and mud. So with this Shimano Ultegra R8000 SPD-SL, you not only have a pedal that improves your performance, but you also have a pedal that lasts a lot longer!
Longer axle
The Ultegra R8000 SPD-SL pedal is also available with a 4mm longer spindle. This is a good thing if you have a large shoe size, for example, which means you are more likely to bump into the crank or the chainstays. Or if you are someone with wider hips or have your knees far out at the sides when cycling. 4mm is also nice if you are a mountain biker and are used to a wider Q-factor (the distance between the two cranks) from mountain biking.

Excellent pedal at a competitive price I would recommend
As with most shimano products it does the job its made for very well , have spent a few 3 and 4 hours in the saddle and find these pedals far more comfortable to use than my previous set

A comfortable and quality pedal system
This is a great quality pedal and the price offered by Mantel was between €30-€50 cheaper than some of the other online retailers I usually buy from. The SPD pedal provides a slightly larger footprint compared to other pedals and of course the extra 4mm space on the axel is great for anyone with a wider foot and hips.

Comfortable pedals, but definitely not cheap
I'd only ever used Look pedals before switching to Shimano SPDs. The good news is that the changeover was seamless, no small pains or need to make minor adjustments. I just switched the cleats over and clipped in! I've done approx. 120km so far on a mixture if road & turbo, all is good. The main reason I changed to these pedals was to benefit from the slightly larger footprint of the pedal & the extra 4mm clearance. So far I'm very happy, however they are not cheap.
